Supporting the wellbeing of senior citizens

by connecting students to senior citizens through technology

About Us

We are a group of recent graduates from the University of Florida. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we realized how important it is to have a social support network and the challenges that senior citizens face to maintain social connection. For this reason, we seek to connect senior citizens to students to help enhance the overall wellbeing of seniors living in nursing homes or on their own.

Mission

Seniors Smile is dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of the geriatric population by increasing connection through virtual means.

Participate

One-on-One Calls

We help organize one-on-one calls with seniors who live alone or in nursing homes. Depending on the technology available, calls can be via audio or video. We encourage 15 minute and 30 minute call intervals.

Group Calls

We also help organize group calls with seniors in nursing homes. Typically, a nursing home brings together some of its residents into a common space where residents are able to engage with a student from a shared device.

Musical Performances

Do you play an instrument? We are accepting volunteers for virtual musical performances.

Chapters & Languages

We currently have Seniors Smile chapters in the United States (Florida, Illinois) and Europe (Lithuania). We are continuing to expand chapters.

Available languages at this time include English, Spanish, and Lithuanian.
